Life's Rich Pageant
From swans to superman,
And from Charleston to Cuyahoga,
Hyena-high and hyperactive,
Life’s rich pageant lies before us.
Even underneath the bunker,
Where no one can come,
Someone has planted the flowers of Guatemala,
And these days, nothing’s prettier,
With their glistening blossoms,
And loamy aroma.
So I believe we must,
Begin the begin and just get to it,
In spite of ourselves,
Eat of it, drink of it,
And listen to the words.
Because all we have,
Is just a touch of sound,
A spot of memory,
And the tingle of creation,
Itching through our fingers.
